Cookie policy

Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. Websites can also keep information in the browser’s own storage (local storage and session storage). This page lists everything MySwimLook, and the services it uses, can store on your device, and when. How we handle personal data in general is explained in the privacy policy.
In short
- A few technical items are needed for the site to work: your cookie choice, your recent searches and the spam check on our forms. They need no consent.
- Affiliate tracking (Skimlinks) runs only if you accept marketing cookies. If you refuse, you can still read and shop as usual.
- YouTube stores anything only after you press play on a video.
- Our visit statistics use no cookies at all.
Cookie preferences
The first time you visit, a banner asks whether you accept marketing cookies. “Accept all” and “Reject all” are equally easy, and closing the banner counts as a refusal. Until you choose, nothing that needs consent runs.
You can change your mind at any time from Cookie preferences at the bottom of every page. If you withdraw consent, the page reloads so that the affiliate tracking stops at once. Your choice is kept for 365 days; after that the banner asks again. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as a refusal.
You can also delete cookies and site data, or block them, in your browser’s settings. Blocking everything may stop the banner from remembering your choice.

None of these is used to follow you across websites.
Marketing: only with your consent
We earn commissions on some links to shops through Skimlinks (Skimbit Ltd). If you accept marketing cookies, the Skimlinks script records visits and clicks on our pages and turns shop links into tracked links when you click them. It uses small invisible images (pixels) to record visits, and may set:

Outside the European Union and the United Kingdom, the Skimlinks script also loads its partner Taboola, which in turn can let Criteo set a cookie. They are used to measure advertising and to recognise your browser for advertising on other websites. In our tests, and in a scan of this site from outside the EU, they stored:

These companies can change what their tools store. More in the policies of Skimlinks, Taboola and Criteo. You can also opt out of interest-based advertising at youronlinechoices.eu and, in the United States, at aboutads.info/choices and networkadvertising.org/choices.
After you click a link to a shop
When a link takes you to a shop, the shop and its affiliate network can set their own cookies on their own websites, to credit the sale and for their own purposes. Neither we nor Skimlinks control those cookies: the shop’s cookie policy applies there.
Only when you ask: videos
Some stories include YouTube videos. Before you press play, you see only a preview image served by our image service,
and nothing is stored. When you press play, the video loads from youtube-nocookie.com and Google stores information in
your browser — for example yt-icons-last-purged and ytidb::LAST_RESULT_ENTRY_KEY in local storage and a database
named YtIdbMeta — under Google’s privacy policy.
What we do not use
- No cookies for statistics. Plausible counts visits without cookies and without storing anything on your device.
- No advertising on the site, and no tracking pixels from social networks.
- No cookies for photos or hosting. Our image service and our hosting store nothing on your device.

If we add a service that stores something on your device, it will be listed here before it is used, and the date at the top will change.
